The landscapes and seascapes of Turner and Whistler are my absolute inspiration. Turner's expressive, emotive colours and bold treatments of light capture and transfix, and while we associate Whistler more with portraits, his landscapes and seascapes are wistfully magical. Over a period of months I built up layers to try and capture light on the water and used oil and egg tempera to render the subtle blushed pink and yellowy tinges in the sky.
