About Sophie

>

West Sussex-based landscape artist, Sophie Marchant, moved to South Africa at the age of 5, returning to the UK after university. These formative years, with a father who had taken to painting, inspired a lifelong passion for art and nature, which was further nourished by travelling the world as a travel writer. Her large oil landscapes and seascapes capture dawn and dusk and the play of light on clouds, water and the radiance of skies. She is currently exhibiting a selection of oil paintings and Forgotten Beauties insects at Bingham Riverside in Richmond upon Thames until mid-March 2022.

Original entomology art by Sophie Marchant and Tillmann Pretscher featuring common, rare and endangered insects with their individual stories written by renown entomologist Peter Pretscher.
